PARK(ing) Day 2025

PARK(ing) Day is a global event where parking spaces become pop-up parks and social spaces. This year, Chicago Growth Project brings PARK(ing) Day to the parking lots at Dovetail and our neighbors at Demo Brewing Company—we’re just a 4-minute walk apart!—with live music, yoga, speakers, and urbanist displays. Enjoy food from Do-Rite Donuts, Tacomatora, and more, plus beer from both breweries. Free to attend, with donations supporting future events and advocacy groups. RSVP and get more information here.

Music Bingo with Ben

Every other Wednesday, or thereabouts, our taproom manager Ben hosts Music Bingo from 6-8pm. The premise is fun and simple—each round is variations of a theme, and you must match snippets of songs to your squares. Say, for example, the theme is Umlauts. You better brush up on your Björk, Mötorhead, and Blue Öyster Cult.

Belgium Beer Week: Belgian Brown Cafe Day

Belgium Beer Week: Belgian Brown Cafe Day

Belgium’s beloved beer bars—known as brown cafés for their cozy wood paneling (and perhaps the patina of decades past)—are neighborhood spots where people gather for a beer, a snack, and conversation across the bar. We’re bringing a bit of that spirit to Ravenswood and Belle Plaine with special pours of our Tripel, Saison, and Gin Barrel-Aged Saison.

Since no brown café is complete without snacks, we’ve invited the Cheese Maven to serve cheese plates (2-5pm), including a Belgian favorite: young cheese sprinkled with celery salt. The Chicago Chapter of the Pink Boots Society will also be on site raffling off prizes to raise funds for scholarships to send members to Germany next year. To support the cause, we’ll be doubling our donation from Tripel pours—$2 from every pour will go directly to the scholarship fund.

BELGIUM BEER WEEK: Blind Bottle and other spontaneous fun!

BELGIUM BEER WEEK: Blind Bottle and other spontaneous fun!

Even before Dovetail opened its doors, it started making spontaneously-fermented beers in the Senne Valley tradition. It's something we think doesn't get enough love around here: Grain bills of unmalted wheat and barley; aged hops; turbid mashes; coolshipping; aging in barrels for years, and then blending—we try to honor the process of those Belgian producers in our spon beer, which is why we don't call these Lambics.

All Friday, we'll tap spons from our cellar -- from unfruited blends, to fruits, and maybe a spirit barrel or two ... And Blind Bottles. We brewed and bottled these beers years ago, annnnd we never labeled them. Annnnnd then we lost the notes as to what was in the bottles. So, we have no idea what's in them. But, Blind Boxes are cool right? It's like a Lambic-style Labubu! You don't know what you'll get til you open it. Available for a very low and special price to enjoy at the taproom or take to go.

BELGIUM BEER WEEK: TRIPEL GRAVITY KEG TAPPING

BELGIUM BEER WEEK: TRIPEL GRAVITY KEG TAPPING

Talk to a brewer in Chicago, and you’d be hard-pressed to find one that has not been influenced in some way by Michael and Louise’s Hopleaf. Since 1992, Michael has introduced generations to Belgian beer by way of his tavern-cum-institution at the near-corner of Clark and Foster Aves. Michael will be on-hand to tap a gravity keg of our Tripel at 5pm—our collaboration with the Chicago chapter of the Pink Boots Society. Tripel is just one of the ways that we’ve been able to showcase our love for Belgian beers (That’s right, we’re not just a German-style brewery) and we’re proud to support PBS with each pour, with $1 going towards scholarships for local women in brewing.

Berliner Day with Bitter Ex and Beard & Belly

Way back in 2023, we brewed a Berliner Weisse that we released that August. But being that we like to brew things the old-fashioned way, we brewed this beer with Brettanomyces, which was traditionally found in the Berliners of yore. It takes some time for Brett to make itself known, so we’re re-releasing it and serving it Berlin-style, with syrups by Bitter Ex. Beard & Belly will bring the currywurst.
