Join us in the taproom on June 14 for an international toast to the pride of Polish beer — PIWO GRODZISKIE.
WHAT THE HECK IS A GRODZISKIE?
Grodziskie is the specialty beer of its namesake town in Poland—and it nearly went extinct 30 years ago.
When the last commercial Grodziskie brewery closed in 1993, Polish homebrewers took it upon themselves to preserve this heritage beer by hosting country-wide homebrew competitions every summer, inviting the last of those brewery employees to judge. As craft beer came to Poland in later years, these newer breweries started to bring Grodziskie beers back into commercial production. Soon enough, it also influenced a generation of American brewers, like us, who brought the style stateside.
Cool and refreshing, Grodziskie is a soft summer beer that goes down nice and easy. Dovetail’s version is 100% oak-smoked wheat, with light, citrus-like overtones and just a surprising hint of spice and smoke in the backnotes.
Now, the same Polish brewers who revived the style have established an official day to be called GRODZISKIE DAY and we’ve planned a whole day of oak-smoked fun in the taproom.
SAY IT LOUD:
grow-jees-kee-uh!
